How to Achieve Your Blog Goals in 3 Ways

How to Achieve Your Blog Goals in 3 Ways

AchieveBlogGoals-post

Hi guys. It's been a while since my last post, but after my wonderful trip to California for my birthday extravaganza and then Christmas sneaking up, I had a hard time getting back into the swing of things. Now that Christmas is over and December is winding down, I thought it was very fitting to talk about blog goals so we can start 2018 off on the right foot.

Blogging is a fickle mistress. Some months you own it and find yourself having a kick ass month while other months you do everything right but find your monthly goals falling a little short. Although blogging includes many ups and downs, the main thing to remember is that blogging should be about passion. And if you find yourself becoming discouraged you need to adjust what you're doing. Setting goals is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. For example, if you want your blog to be supplement to a full time position, then you need to create a list of goals you want to accomplish in order to make this a reality. Be realistic, be committed and don't get discouraged. Success doesn't happen overnight, it takes time and patience.

Let's kick off the new year with some useful tips to help you hit those blog goals. Plus at the end of this post, you can find a link to download a free monthly goal printable.

Set Realistic Goals

This might seem obvious, but it is pertinent to set blog goals for yourself. Setting goals may not sound like the most fun, but I promise it will help you achieve success. One of the reasons I set goals is because it allows me the ability to track my growth, so by the end of the year I’m able to look back and say, hey since June I gained a 15% increase in my page views. Typically what I do is at the beginning of each month I’ll write a few little goals I hope to achieve – a certain number of followers on Pinterest, Facebook or Twitter, page view increase of 3%, more blog comments etc. It doesn’t really matter what goal you want to accomplish, the most important thing is to set realistic goals. Try changing up your Instagram strategy and use hash tags to increase your engagement or join more group boards on Pinterest and pin like crazy. Make sure to focus your efforts and don’t get discouraged. You never know, you might even surprise.

StrategizeYour Social Media Outlets

Social media can quickly become overwhelming. This is especially true when you’re trying to create meaningful content, scheduling posts for Facebook, for Instagram, for Twitter, for Pinterest, plus if you’re student, working full time (like myself) or a parent. It’s easy to let it drive you crazy. Instead of spreading yourself too thin, it’s best to pick one social media avenue and rock it. Personally I’ve seen the highest return from Pinterest, so that’s where most of my energy goes. I use Tailwind to schedule all of my posts and it has made my life so much easier! I spend about 10 mins a day scheduling all of my posts through Tailwind and takes the hard work out of pinning. Along with scheduling, I make sure to create graphics that look good on Pinterest. I mostly use Photoshop to create my graphics, but Canva is a great tool to use if Photoshop is too overwhelming for you.

Join Facebook Groups & Pinterest Group Boards

Facebook groups dedicated to blogging are great places to promote your blog posts. For the longest time I avoided joining Facebook blogging groups because I felt I was too new to the blogging community to start promoting myself. I was so wrong. Joining Facebook groups has been instrumental in the growth to my blog and social media outlets. Join threads where you can share your recent post (and make sure to share others), ask questions if you can’t find the answer yourself and make sure you participate as an active member. The more you contribute, the more you’ll get out of it.

Pinterest group boards are another fantastic place to increase your followers. By joining Pinterest group boards you get increased exposure by the members of the group board and they are more likely to share your content with their followers. They are also more likely to check your page and follow you. Group  boards with high-quality, relevant content (especially those with a lot of followers) increases your chance of a higher Pinterest reach.

In case you missed it, you can read the ultimate resource guide for bloggers which includes a list of my favorite Facebook groups you can join.
