Monthly Ipsy Bag Value - September 2017
Happy September! I can't believe how quickly the summer passed by, but I'm very excited for cooler temperatures and fall decor. Because summer is basically over, I thought this months bag would be more fall-related, and I was right. This month's bag is a beautiful black with tiny triangle spikes with a gold zipper. My initial thought was the quality of the bag seems very durable so I'm excited to see how well it holds up on trips. Unlike last months' bag which offered 3 different bag styles, this one strictly featured the black bag. Let's dive in and see what goodies Ipsy surprised me with this month.
The first thing I saw (because they couldn't fit inside the bag) were these 2 face masks. I LOVE face masks and this month Ipsy didn't disappoint. The two masks I received were Mugwort, Astringent + Pore Care and Beauty Planner Mask - Lily, Whitening + Brightening by Manefit. This is another Korean company and again I'm super excited to add these masks to my Korean mask collection. Reg. Retail Price - $20.00.
After dumping the contents of the bag out, the next thing I found was this Luxie Rose Gold Medium Angled Shading Eye Brush 207. I always like when Ipsy includes a brush in a monthly bag because I typically don't buy brushes because 1) they are usually expensive and 2) I use them until they are so ratty I'm forced to buy a new one. I always figured why fix something when it's not broken, which is probably not a go mentality to have when it comes to brushes. I've received a Luxie branded brush in a past bag and I really like them! They are a cruelty free brand - meaning they don't test any of their products on animals. But on top of that, the quality is fantastic and I haven't had an issues with my past brushes. I hope Ipsy keeps included brushes because if they send them I will use them. Reg. Retail Price - $12.00
The next thing I found which was originally wrapped in bubble wrap and tape, was this Blush Duo in Peach Honey Pixi by Petra Beauty. I love blush. I love dark blush, light blush, sparkly blush - you name it, I love it. I honestly can never have enough blush. This blush is split in two sets of color - a champagne highlighter and nude blush. Each duo features two shades to be worn alone or layered. They are also another cruelty free brand. I'm really excited to try this even though I like to pretend I know how to use highlighter. Reg. Retail Price - $18.00.
The last two things in bag were a Photo Finish Radiance Primer by Smashbox Cosmetics (Reg. Retail Price - $8.29) & Organic Infused Gel Effect Nail Lacquer in Deception by Adesse New York (Reg. Retail Price - $18.00). I really don't exactly know the purpose of a primer, but I tried it on this morning and I like how silky it goes on and it makes my makeup feel more secure. There are days when I come home from work and I'm shocked that no one told me my eyeliner was smudged and my makeup looked terrible. I'm hoping this helps me from making a fool of myself.
The nail polish was pretty much what I assumed the color would be for fall. I usually wear brighter nail polishes (pinks, blues, turquoise) so this is the darkest color, other than black, that I now own. I currently have on no-chip polish that I've been desperatly wanting to get rid of. I might pick the rest of it off today and try this dark grey color out tonight.
Total Retail Value: $82.54!
I don't know how they make any money. Each month I'm just astounded at the value and can't believe I paid $10 for 5 pieces of makeup + a bag + shipping. Anyone on the fence about signing up for a monthly makeup subscription, I HIGHLY recommend Ipsy. I've been a subscriber since February 2017 and I couldn't be more happy. I've loved/used almost every product I've received. $10 a month is such a great price, no wonder there is a waiting list to get on!
